If you were going to use natural coconut oil as your familys cooking oil then it would be best for you because it could bring you lots of health benefits. The usual cooking oil that we use contains double bonds of polyunsaturated oils that are very vulnerable on oxidation along with free radical attacks that can cause heart related diseases. The vegetable oils that we are currently using undergo many processes, this includes oxidation that would later on turn in to rancid and can lead humans to degenerative diseases and quick aging. It is really not recommended to continually use vegetables oils in cooking, it would be best if you would make coconut oil as an alternative for it, virgin coconut oil doesnt have double bonds and chemically very stable.
